Cora Mill is the only remaining mill on Raccoon Creek from the dozens of mills that once lined the creek. The mill was built in 1835 by Charles Giles and later bought and operated by the Massie family. The Flood of 1937 took out the dam and turbine rendering the mill inoperable. It is no longer in operation as a grist mill, but now houses an antique shop and is being slowly renovated as the years take there toll on the stately structure. The waterfall below the dam has always been a favorite spot for area visitors.

As part of the Highland's Nature Santuary, the well-maintained trails wind through hauntingly beautiful wilderness and mysterious caverns laden with Native American history. Crystal clear rapids and water falls of the Rocky Fork Creek cut deep canyons forming impressive cliffs that harbor some of Ohio's most incredible plants and trees, including the ancient white cedar and cliff-clinging sullivantia.

The Chaparral Prairie State Nature Preserve is an outstanding cedar barren prairie with post and blackjack oak. It supports one of the most extensive populations of rattlesnake-master in the state. Prairie plants such as prairie dock and spiked blazing-star are also unusually abundant at this site. Eleven state-listed species have been recorded from the preserve including spider milkweed, prairie false indigo, pink milkwort and Carolina buckthorn. Little bluestem is the dominant prairie grass. Several rare Lepidoptera species, such as Edward's hairstreak butterfly, have also been found.
