Gaming and Simulation Technology in the Appalachian Region
Ohio's Appalachian region is rapidly transforming its image from one of traditional manufacturing to a center for the digital simulation and gaming technology industry, supported by a $250,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission and armed with investment potential from venture capital funds, a consortium of the region's universities, an information technology trade organization and several private and public resources.
Shawnee State University, Ohio University and Washington State Community College are working cooperatively to provide access to resources that new and growing companies in this industry require, including a highly-skilled workforce, growth capital, high-speed broadband infrastructure, research facilities and communication with peers in the technology.
